Samim – Connecting people that matter
This Privacy Policy explains how Samim ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you use our mobile application ("the App"). By using Samim, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
With your permission, Samim reads your phone's contact list to find other Samim users you may know. We do this by comparing the last digits of phone numbers — your full contact list is never uploaded to our servers. Only the phone numbers of users who are already registered on Samim are matched and displayed to you.

We do not use your data for targeted advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database platform with industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit (TLS/SSL). Access to the database is governed by Row-Level Security (RLS) policies, meaning users can only access their own data — not other users' private messages or profile information.
Media files (photos, videos, documents) are stored in Supabase Storage with access controls. Files stored in private chat buckets are only accessible to the sender and recipient.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal data is removed from our active systems. Residual copies in backups may remain for up to 30 days before being permanently deleted.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share your data only in the following limited circumstances:
Information you share in messages, posts, and your profile is visible to the users you communicate with or, in the case of public Discover posts, to all Samim users.

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Samim, our users, or the public.
Samim may send you push notifications for new messages, incoming calls, and activity on your posts. You can disable push notifications at any time in your device's Settings app. Disabling notifications will not affect your ability to use the App.
Samim is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will promptly delete that information and terminate the account. Samim is operated from the United States. If you access the App from outside the United States, your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. By using the App, you consent to such transfer. We take steps to ensure your data is treated securely regardless of where it is processed.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the App after the changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
